One hell of a success

The Fabulous Travelling Bag Folk filled the Greenbank with bunting, festive music and a wide variety of superb stalls. But it was the steady flow of Bristol residents who really fueled the festive vibe!

We had a wonderful array of stalls from some of Bristol's finest artisans. Including jewellery, upcycled clothing, handspun yarn, crochet toys, headwear, photography and so much more all bundled into one fabulous event!

No festival is complete without some amazing facepaint, The Fabulous Travelling Bag Folk were lucky enough to have the beautifying skills of theatrical facepainter Donna Paget.

Everyone looked their most fabulous on the day, fully dressed up in colourful costumes, glorious facepaint, and, of course beards!

Playing around a funky soundtrack courtesy of J Beats Billo we had music from Paul Reid and other DJ's who warmed up the stage for the stars of our show!

The Greenbank grew silent as these fantastically enchanting bellydancers took the stage, Stephi and Suraya blew the audience away with their alluring dance.
They were a FABULOUS end to a FABULOUS day and a great introduction to Duvet Vous.

Amanda Brett: Thanks for sharing, a great little mini-festie with fab'lous things, particularly loved the gorgeous hand made felt and hand spun wool - look forward to seeing you guys at Priddy! Yerp, left with a warm, fuzzy feeling. ;-)

Bellydancer's Stephi and Suraya

The Fabulous Travelling Bag Folk are thrilled to introduce two fabulous ladies, Stephi and Suraya who will be shaking the Greenbank this Saturday with a spectacular bellydancing performance!

These two Bristol based beauties perform together all over the city at community and private events. Stephi & Suraya provide a varied and exciting show with a selection of oriental and folkloric dances.  They have been described as fluid, feminine, powerful and earthy dancers, providing uplifting and fun entertainment at events which always gets the crowds going! They are both very excited to be involved with the Bagfolk collective!

A performance set can include prop work such as zills (finger cymbals), bellydance with veil, Saidi cane dance, Ghawazee gypsy dance (traditional folkloric Egyptian dance), Oriental Bellydance to traditional music and Drum Solo dance - dancing to pure drumming, bringing out the stunning sharper isolations of the dance. They also collaborate with fantastic live drummer Ben Jammin which adds a more traditional, 'earthy' and interactive element to the performance.

For more information about lessons and performances from these fantastic entertainers check out their websites, Stephi teaches in Easton and Suraya is based in Shirehampton and Saltford (Bath).

If you want to see these intoxicating dancers in action then come along down to the Greenbank this Saturday where all the Fabulous Travelling Bag Folk extraordinaire's we have met over the last few weeks will be enjoying this spectacular party!

All creatures great and sewn

The Fabulous Travelling Bag Folk are super thrilled to have All Creatures Great and Sewn taking part in the Greenbank market. Creator Jess French produces a range of knitted and crochet toys, hot water bottle covers and badges, all handmade with enthusiasm and care.

Coming from a family of knitters it was only natural she learnt to knit as a child. Combining this with a love of animals was an easy step and it wasn't long before she started to make her own cuddly toys by knitting and crochet, and now she just can't stop.

Each toy is made lovingly by hand, from scratch and as a result it totally unique and individual- no two look the same. Creator Jess says her "favourite part of the process is adding their face and giving them their personality- the finishing touch."

As with all our artists All Creatures Great and Sewn are always open to custom orders and love the challenge to make a new creature! Find out more about these wonderfully fluffy creations on the website, follow them on twitter or send them an email and place your order!

Alternatively you can just wait until the 14th May and come along to the Fabulous Travelling Bag Folk's first market at the Greenbank Pub and browse this original bundle of knitted joy from All Creatures Great and Sewn!

The Fabulous Travelling Bag Folk are excited to present Jo Buttons Creations, an aspiring artist who produces some stunning pieces.

Jo takes her inspiration from the visual essence and arbitrary patterns that can be found throughout the natural world. Artist Jo Button's says her art is influenced by "Hundertwasser and Tord Boontje for their unique adaptations of our mother nature. They both convey a necessity to incorporate the natural world in our everyday lives for ecological and aesthetical affects."
